Path of Noise (r, θ, φ)

In this generative artwork, particles drift along the surface of a sphere, tracing curves as they pass. Their movement is a reflection on the randomness of one's life and the chaotic nature of the path taken. Every iteration produces different patterns and colors; nothing repeats, nothing is fixed.

r, θ, φ in the title represent the coordinates of a point in spherical space. They ground the work in the geometry it inhabits: a 6-meter-diameter spherical screen with no border, no beginning and no end, where particles travel freely in all directions and loop back on themselves endlessly.

Though the work is generative, I also wanted it to tell a story. It unfolds in several parts, each carrying a different mood, accompanied by an original music composition I wrote for the piece. The years leading up to this piece were difficult for many people around the world. I wanted to offer something hopeful, a moment of comfort. That is the reason for the cherry blossoms at the end.
