Project Leading Engineer on AR Garment Fitting Project
- Research and Development, system design
- Real-time cloth physics simulation
- Kinect skeleton data filtering/retargeting, improvement of the body detection quality
- Cloth database management system
Initially developed for an apparel shop, this system let customers try on garments and combinations of clothing without stepping into a fitting room. Particular attention went into the shape and texture of each item, which meant designing a full workflow from the clothing's 2D pattern through to the finished, manufactured piece, in order to reach the desired quality.
This project involved extensive R&D. Body tracking relied on Kinect data, refined through custom filtering and retargeting algorithms to improve detection accuracy and reduce jitter. Garments were rendered using real-time cloth physics, with dedicated attention to materials like wool and fur. A cloth database management system handled the shop's full catalog.
